What is a sustainable office really?

The shift is already happening and your team is feeling it
Did you know that almost half of Belgian and Dutch employees would prefer to work in a more sustainable office? A few plants, LED lighting and a "green" label on the front door are long gone.
Sustainable offices not only reduce their carbon footprint, but also consume up to 35% less energy. That means fewer emissions as well as lower costs. But the benefits go beyond that.
A sustainable office also takes your team to the next level. Employees feel better, are more productive and are less likely to call in sick. Things like light, air quality and hydration have a direct impact on how people perform.
Sustainability as a mindset
It only really works when everyone participates and not as a top-down project, but as a culture where people bring their own ideas and inspire each other daily. Sustainability only works when it is concrete, visible and easy. You don't have to push people, just make it easy for them.
That's why in more and more offices you see the classic soda machine giving way to a Dripl Refill Point. Less waste, more hydration and more engagement.
Okay, but what really makes an office sustainable?
1. Making smart use of energy 💡
- Replace old light bulbs with LED
- Use motion sensors
- Turn off devices completely outside working hours
- Consider green power or solar panels
2. Less waste, more reuse ♻️
- Use reusable bottles, bags, lunch boxes
- Set up a water tap with filtered water or flavored water
- Avoid single-use where you can: cups, plastic spoons, foil, cans....
💡 Did you know that in Belgium, 41% of the working population still uses single-use containers every day? While more than 80% have a reusable bottle?
3. Healthy work environment 💧
A sustainable office is also a place where people feel good about themselves. Consider:
- Ample daylight and fresh air
- Plants that brighten the room and purify the air
- Hydration without sugars or waste
- An inviting place where you like to pause
👉 We at Dripl like to contribute to that with healthy, circular drinks that really make an impact. Start with what you drink, throw away and how your team feels. In doing so, build a place that not only works, but is right!
