Hey Olivier 👋
Olivier Carlier is HR Manager at Toyota Material Handling, Belgium's market leader in forklifts and forklift trucks. With about 250 employees, divided between office and field staff, Olivier has an important role in ensuring well-being in the workplace.
👉 Welfare as a top priority
"Wellbeing has become a top priority for us in recent years," says Olivier. "The COVID crisis has made us realize how important it is to address mental health. Employees have been under enormous pressure, and organizations need to realize that investing in well-being is not only morally responsible, but also a smart business decision. Happy employees make for happy customers, and that is an essential part of our success!"
👉 Creative welfare initiatives
Olivier has introduced several unique well-being initiatives that go beyond standard solutions. "We've established an activities committee that organizes various events, from ping-pong tournaments to fun padel competitions. This not only fosters team spirit but also makes work a lot more fun!"
"In addition, we have created a healthy work environment with free fruit and soup, and our beverage offerings have been converted to healthier choices through Dripl. These initiatives aren't just about physical health, but also about creating a positive culture where employees feel truly valued."
👉 Access to benefits
"In addition to our wellness initiatives, we have launched the 'Benefits at Work' platform, where employees can access discounts at various brands," Olivier explained.
"This initiative has been especially well received in times of high inflation because it helps employees save money on daily expenses. It is a practical way to provide additional support to our employees."
👉 Measure your impact
Olivier emphasizes the importance of measuring the impact of well-being initiatives. "We closely monitor turnover rates and other KPIs to evaluate the effectiveness of our well-being policy. In recent years, we have been able to reduce our turnover significantly, from about 20% to an impressive 10%. And those numbers speak for themselves! This shows that our efforts are paying off and that employees are increasingly feeling at home."
👉 A strong employer brand
"A strong wellness policy helps us stand out in the job market," says Olivier. "It allows us to not only be an attractive employer for new employees but also to retain our current ones. Creating a positive work culture and a good working environment is essential for our employer branding and allows us to attract and retain talent."
