Mistral Home helps build greener textile sector: "Thanks to Dripl reduce waste and drink healthier"

At textile manufacturer Mistral Home, they are working hard to make their business more sustainable. The introduction of Dripl came at the request of one of the employees. "We wanted to reduce the amount of waste in the office as well as offer a healthier alternative to soft drinks," says Judith Verpaele, Marketing & Communications Manager.

The textile industry is one with a big impact on the environment. A lot of water is needed during production and CO2 emissions are also high. Judith: "We are aware of this, and want to do our part in the transition to a greener sector. This is why we engaged an independent agency specialized in energy saving, renewable energy and sustainability projects. In addition, we established our own sustainability committee in 2021; a group of colleagues who actively consider ways to reduce our carbon footprint - both in terms of production and office work."

More sustainable office and supply

And - as we like to think - it doesn't stop at mere ambitions. On the agency's recommendation, Mistral Home put solar panels on the roof of its warehouse, for example. Some ideas from the sustainability committee have also been implemented, such as more efficient packaging of their products, raising awareness about sorting and the introduction of Dripl.

Judith: "Our building has three floors and there used to be a refrigerator filled with soft drinks on each floor. These have now been replaced by water fountains and a Dripl Refill Point on the ground floor. This immediately kills a few birds with one stone: we significantly reduce PMD waste, the unit is more energy efficient and we reduce CO2 emissions by avoiding trucks driving back and forth."

Dripl helps us be more sustainable on several levels

Sustainability is also looking at employee well-being

That the Dripl drinks are also healthy was more than a nice touch. "We attach great importance to the health of our employees," Judith adds. "Because only those who are in good shape can give their best every day. That's why, for example, we organize a weekly sporting activity after work and also offer free fruit at work. So Dripl's healthy drinks fit perfectly into that list."

Dripl makes soda easy to forget

Whether the switch from addictive, sugary drinks to a healthy alternative was difficult? Not at all, as it turns out. Judith: "The Dripl drinks are really popular, especially the ginger-lime and cranberry. Before we brought Dripl in effectively, we requested a tasting box and had all our colleagues taste it. There was a positive response from the vast majority at the time, which made us feel that the soft drink would soon be forgotten here. Of course, employees are free to bring soft drinks from home, but that still rarely happens."
