The story behind the Dripl mission

Kipling Satchels
Flashback to 2010, when my generation wore skinny jeans and Kipling satchels. Water from plastic bottles? Normal. 10 years later, not only has our fashion sense improved, we've become more climate-conscious, and eco-awareness is present. The reusable water bottle has become an established staple. Shoutout to the Doppers and Sodastreams of the world 💘
Drinking water has evolved tremendously positively, but wait? What about the other half? Everything with taste?
The mountain of waste and more
A can of cola from the vending machine, or a bottle of iced tea from Delhaize—these soft drinks are still only available in disposable packaging. This in 2020? Say what? So many bottles and cans are discarded every day that if you throw them all together in a pile, you'd have a mountain of waste as tall as the Eiffel Tower.
This waste of cans and bottles involves an enormous amount of transportation. Soft drinks are really just water with a flavour added. This means that there are countless vans driving around filled with up to 80% water. This, while tap water is available everywhere? Ridiculous. 🤷♂️
Let's take this a step further. If you look at the taste itself, it's unfortunately still unhealthy. Either it's an overabundance of sugar, or the soft drinks are "zero calories" but loaded with chemical junk.
These three aspects make the beverage industry one of the most sustainably inefficient industries in the world. The climate impact of enjoying a refreshing lemonade and the climate impact currently being realized are miles apart.

A mini-soft drink factory
With Dripl we are turning the current soft drink industry upside down. We introduce a new way of consuming tasty drinks.
With Dripl, we want to reinvent the current soft drink industry. The Dripl Refill Point is a the packaging-free drink dispenser, where you can fill a drinking bottle with a healthy lemonade. Ginger-lime, elderflower or an iced tea: low in sugar and completely natural.
The Refill Point is going to filter tap water, cool it, add effervescence to it and finally mix it with a flavour concentrate.
This is how we decentralize the production of soft drinks, all small soft drink factories as it were.
Sustainable Empowerment
We are convinced that the current and most common way of prioritizing sustainable solutions is outdated. The negative doom-mongering and relying on fear to change people's behavior is over. It's now proven that climate documentaries don't help much; on the contrary, I'm getting a little depressed.
That's why the Dripl Refill Point should be a no-brainer. It's a sustainable alternative that's so easy to use, so delicious, and so affordable, that people don't even have to think about choosing sustainability—an offer you can't refuse.
We are pro-sustainable empowerment, a positive movement focused on practical solutions. Products and mechanisms that create fundamental change. We admire mission-driven companies that make an impact, like Tiemie and Toogoodtogo.
